It offered exceptional quality, punchy performance, remarkable features-set for its time. Even globally, Ford EcoSport has fans and following and one such owner probably loved their Ford EcoSport more than others.
We’re talking about a Ford EcoSport from USA which is listed for an auction on online auction platform, Bring A Trailer. The most notable attribute of this EcoSport is that it has been modified to run on six wheels and a stretched rear body which looks like a Photoshopped prank, but is a real car in running conditions that anyone can bid for and purchase. Current bid is USD 5,800 (Rs 5.5 lakh) and the auction ends in 2 days.
Ford EcoSport 6-Wheel
This particular Ford EcoSport 6-wheel is a 2019 model, which has been modified to suit the personal preferences and needs of its owner. There have been multiple owners for this vehicle and the current owner who has listed this vehicle has clocked 500 miles on the odometer which now reads 47k miles (75k km).
The base vehicle is modified to a six wheeled chassis with extended bodywork and it even has a rear roof spoiler. The overall body was extended using an additional rear section along with subframe. To cover it up, steel panels have been used as bodywork, finished in Black paint along with White pinstriping.
There is also a powered moon roof and luggage racks on top. Fog lights and rear wiper are present too, so electricals have been modified as well, to accommodate the extra length. Except for the rear roof spoiler, most or all of the rear section is carried forward. Only, they are far away from their original intended position.
Tailgate is still side hinged and same tail lights can be seen. Same 17-inch alloy wheels as stock vehicle have been purchased for the rear-most extra axle. Inside of this extended area is lined with deep-pile carpeting of grey colour. Side doors and front end are carried forward too. Front of this Ford EcoSport 6-wheel has been subjected to an accident and is replaced.
What’s Powering This Custom Vehicle?
On the inside, it is mostly stock affair or normal mods. We can see Black leather upholstery, powered driver’s seat, 60-40 folding rear bench, AC, Bang & Olufsen music system, 6.5-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, heated steering wheel and other attributes of a stock EcoSport are carried over.
Powering this custom Ford EcoSport 6-wheel is a 2.0L Duratec Turbo Diesel engine with 166 bhp of peak power and 202 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox. Power is sent to front and rear (centre) wheels like in a stock EcoSport, while the rear-most wheels on the third axle are not powered in any way.
