Six children die in MP after kidney failure, Deputy CM rules out deaths due to cough syrups | VIDEO

Six children have died in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara after consuming cough syrup that reportedly led to kidney failure. Meanwhile, MP Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla has ruled out deaths due to cough syrups. Earlier, the district administration had banned the sale of two types of cough syrups named Coldrif and Nextro-DS.

Shukla said there has been no confirmation about linkage of cough syrup to deaths. The Deputy CM apparently gave the clean chit to the syrup companies even before investigation report was submitted.

Shukla said that the exact cause of the deaths will only be clear after the investigation report is received. Currently, the entire health department staff is monitoring the situation, which is under control, he added.

The Deputy CM also stated that the reports of the deceased children have been sent to ICMR and Nagpur. Once the reports are received, the real cause of the deaths will be revealed. Meanwhile, people should not pay attention to any rumors. He clarified that the cough syrups are not responsible for the deaths.

“The claims regarding the cough syrup are completely baseless. It has been confirmed that these deaths were not caused by the cough syrup. Until the investigation report comes, it is not possible to reach any conclusion,” the Deputy CM said.
