New Delhi: A woman ended her American dream after she was unable to secure a job in the US. She opened up about her struggles on social media. Many netizens were able to resonate with her story.
Ananya Joshi was not ready for her departure from the US. In the video shared on social media, Joshi said it was the hardest decision she had to make her American journey. Joshi, a master’s graduate from Northwestern University was working with a biotech start-up under the F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT) programme. The programme allowed international students to work in their field of study for up to 12 months. However, she was laid off and could not find another job.

The video was captioned, “I did it guys! Left the USA, and the ‘American Dream’ with it.” Speaking of her time in the US, Joshi claimed that it was a special time in her life. She stated, “By far the hardest step in this journey. Even though I seemed to have accepted my reality, nothing could have prepared me for this day. America was my first home as a financially independent adult and that will always be a special thing to me. Though short lived, I really appreciate the life you gave me. AMERICA, I LOVE YOU.”
In another video posted on her Instagram account, Joshi addressed her lay off and her complicated visa situation. She told her followers, “As a person on a temporary visa, my situation becomes far more complicated after this and I need to come up with a backup plan ASAP. However, these uncertain times made me reflect on what I really want to do with my life, and I realised how happy I am when I create content and share my experiences online…”
