Devosmita Paul, posted as Assistant Professor in the prestigious Shivaji College of Delhi University (DU), was brutally murdered in her own flat. The suspense in this high-profile murder mystery deepened when the police spotted two masked suspects in the CCTV footage of the society.
That ‘Bloody’ Wednesday in the apartment: 45 minutes of mysterious game
The incident started on Wednesday afternoon. The CCTV footage obtained by the police and forensic experts from the cameras installed at the entry gate and corridor of the society has shocked even the investigating officers. It is clearly visible in the footage that on Wednesday afternoon, two masked suspects, one of whom is said to be a woman, very cleverly enter Devosmita’s flat. According to the investigation report, both these suspects stayed inside the apartment complex for about 40 to 45 minutes and after committing the crime, they went out very silently. The shocking revelations of the postmortem report show that Devosmita was murdered between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on the same Wednesday. The killers had hit him on the head with a heavy object, due to which he died on the spot.
Last call and normal voice: what happened just before death?
The biggest suspense in this entire murder mystery is a few hours before Devosmita’s death. After checking the call detail record (CDR), the police found out that Devosmita had talked to her mother on the phone at around 12:30 pm on Wednesday. According to family sources, Devosmita’s voice was absolutely normal during the conversation. He had not made the slightest mention of any kind of danger or concern. In such a situation, the question arises that after everything was fine till 12:30 pm, what suddenly happened that within a few hours those two masked men entered his flat? Were the killers known to them or was it the result of some bigger rivalry?
The scary truth behind the closed door: Sister broke the lock
The truth was revealed on Thursday afternoon. Devosmita’s sister Devrati Paul had been calling her continuously since Thursday morning, but there was no response from the other end. Fearing something untoward, Devrati went straight to his apartment in Vasundhara Enclave. Seeing the scene there, the ground slipped beneath his feet – the door of the flat was locked from outside. Without wasting any time, Devrati broke the lock with the help of the people nearby. As soon as she entered the flat, Devosmita’s blood soaked body was lying in front of her. After the screams, the police was immediately informed through PCR call.
Professor used to live alone: Mystery solved in front of police
Initial investigation has revealed that Devosmita lived alone in this flat, while her husband lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The police are now strictly investigating whether the murderers were aware that she lived alone. At present, Delhi Police has registered a case under section 103(1) (murder) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) to solve the mystery of this blind murder. Several police teams are conducting raids in Delhi-NCR to connect the links of the day of the incident and identify the two masked men.
