Netizens review Idli Kadai

Netizens reviewed Idli Kadai. One wrote, “#IdliKadai 1st Half: Served Well. Calf connection scene & Return of father Sivanesan’s idli taste are beautifully written. Filled with touching emotions moments, Director @dhanushkraja shines in every frame. “Yen Paatan Saami Varum” in Both Version (melody & divine rock) @gvprakash lifts every moment with his music (sic).”

Another tweeted, “Watha..Emotional first half with peak interval block Thalaiva! OG commercial @dhanushkraja is back (sic).” One wrote, “1st half completed. Zero emotional connect. Dhanush acting good. Arun vijay role wasted (sic).” One added, “Family drama unfolds at a slow pace, with heavy sentiments especially in the Dhanush-Rajkiran scenes. Dhanush-Nithya Menon chemistry is engaging as always. Sathyaraj, Arun Vijay, and Shalini’s characters fail to make a strong impact on the audience. As usual @dhanushkraja acting (thumbs up emoji) but director Dhanush (sad emoji) Boring screenplay (sic).” Reviewing the film, one wrote, “Having some decent hopes. #Dhanush has mostly shined in feel-good genre, hope this also stands out as a perfect one (sic).”

Dhanush on family’s struggle

At the audio launch, Dhanush spoke about his family’s financial situation during his growing-up years. He said, “As a kid, I always craved idlis every single day, but I couldn’t afford them. Hence, we started collecting flowers from the neighbourhood. The money we get will be based on the amount of flowers we collect every day. My sister, cousins and I would wake up at 4 AM to do this for over two hours.” He further said “We’d get a little over Rs 2 each for the jobs. Then, we’d head to a local pump set, take bath and walk with just a towel on the main road. For that money, we would get four to five idlis. Nothing can beat the satisfaction and taste that is gotten out of eating food from our own hard-earned money. I’m not getting the happiness and taste now in restaurants, which I had during my childhood.”
