Jyeshtha Somvati Amavasya 2026: Amavasya date is very sacred in Sanatan Dharma. Amavasya falling in Adhikamas is considered very special. This is because the new moon falling in this month comes once in three years. The date of Amavasya has been dedicated to the ancestors. It is believed that ancestors come to earth on this date, hence on Amavasya, Tarpan and Pind Daan of ancestors is done. It is believed that the ancestors are pleased with these works and bestow blessings.
On Amavasya, special virtues are obtained by bathing, donating, worshipping, chanting, penance etc. When Amavasya Tithi falls on Monday, it is called Somvati Amavasya. Adhikamaas is going on these days. Therefore, this year there is a special coincidence of Adhikamas and Somvati Amavasya. This year the new moon day of Jyeshtha Adhikamas will be celebrated on 15th June. This day is Monday. Therefore this Somvati will be Amavasya. - According to the Panchang, the Amavasya date of Jyeshtha Adhikamas is starting on June 14, 2026 at 12:19 pm.
- This date will end the next day on June 15 at 08:23 am.
In such a situation, due to the recognition of Udaya Tithi, Somvati Amavasya will be celebrated on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Religious significance of Somvati Amavasya (Somvati Amavasya Religious Significance)
Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are especially worshiped on the day of Somvati Amavasya. According to beliefs, if husband and wife together worship Mahadev and Mother Parvati on the day of Somvati Amavasya, then all the problems of marital life go away. Apart from this, being pleased with the offerings and donations made for the peace of the ancestors, the ancestors give blessings for the growth and happiness and prosperity of the ancestors.
Remedies for Somvati Amavasya (SOmvati Amavasya Ke Remedy)
- On Amavasya, mix sugar in wheat flour and feed it to ants. It is believed that doing this removes financial problems.
- On this day, light a lamp of pure ghee in front of the Tulsi plant in the evening. It is believed that this pleases Goddess Lakshmi.
- Light a ghee lamp by placing a black thread wick in the north-east direction of the house. Add some saffron in it. Doing this increases happiness and prosperity.
- After bathing, offer water to the Peepal tree and revolve around it. By doing this financial crisis goes away.
- Donate white sweets, sesame seeds, clothes, food and shoes and slippers to the needy. This provides special benefits.
