Chief Minister Shri Sai was addressing the felicitation ceremony for meritorious students organized by the Labor Department at New Circuit House in the capital Raipur. On this occasion, he honored 22 students who made it to the merit list of 10th and 12th board examination of Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education under the Chief Minister Noni-Babu Medhavi Education Assistance Scheme.

These students were provided an incentive amount of Rs 2 lakh each. The honored students included 9 students of class 10th and 13 students of class 12th. These students are from different districts including Raipur, Mahasamund, Durg, Gariaband, Sakti, Balodabazar, Raigarh and Kanker.

Success of children from labor families became inspiration

Congratulating the students, the Chief Minister said that this achievement is not only their individual success but also the victory of their families’ struggle, hard work and determination. He said that these sons and daughters of labor families have brought pride to the entire state by performing excellently despite limited resources and difficult circumstances. He inspired the students and said that they should not underestimate themselves under any circumstances. There are many such examples in history, where people coming from ordinary families have achieved great success on the basis of education and hard work.

Government wants children of workers to become doctors, engineers and administrators

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the priority of the state government is that children from labor families should not be limited to just working as laborers, but should serve the state and the country by reaching the positions of doctor, engineer, scientist, administrator and other prestigious posts. He urged the students to remain continuously studying, disciplined and dedicated towards their goals. The Chief Minister said that education is the medium which opens the way for big changes in life.

Government is running about 70 welfare schemes for workers.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is running about 70 different schemes for the social, economic and educational upliftment of the workers and their families. The objective of these schemes is to provide security and support to labor families from birth till the last stage of life. He appealed to the workers to take maximum benefit of the schemes and also spread the information about these schemes to other eligible workers, so that no needy person is deprived of government facilities.

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said while sharing the experience of Union Minister of State for Labor

Recalling his tenure as Union Minister of State for Labour, the Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has always been sensitive towards the interests of workers and the working class. While working in the Labor Ministry during the year 2014 to 2019, he got the opportunity to be a part of many important decisions related to labor welfare.

He said that earlier workers working at different places faced a lot of difficulty in withdrawing provident fund (PF). To overcome this problem, the system of Universal PF Number was implemented, due to which now the same PF number of the workers remains valid throughout their tenure. Apart from this, many schemes related to minimum pension and health protection of workers were also implemented.

More than 28 thousand labor families received assistance of Rs 7.79 crore

During the program, the Chief Minister transferred a total assistance amount of Rs 7 crore 79 lakh 52 thousand 370 to 28 thousand 754 registered construction workers and their families directly into the bank accounts through DBT. This assistance amount was provided under various welfare schemes including free uniform and book assistance, Minimata Mahtari Jatan Yojana, Chief Minister Noni Empowerment Assistance Scheme, Chief Minister Nonilal Scholarship Scheme, Chief Minister Labor Tools Assistance Scheme, Chief Minister Cycle Assistance Scheme and Pension Assistance Scheme.

Labor Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan told the features of the scheme

Presiding over the program, Labor Minister Shri Lakhan Lal Dewangan said that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai is ensuring that the benefits of the schemes reach every eligible person. He said that under the Chief Minister Noni-Babu Meritorious Education Assistance Scheme, an incentive amount of Rs 1 lakh is given to meritorious students and Rs 1 lakh is given to buy a two-wheeler. Along with this, work is also being done on expanding free coaching, health check-up and other facilities for the children of labor families.

Labor Welfare Board explained the usefulness of the schemes

Dr. Rampratap Singh, President of Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, said that many important schemes are being run by the Board in the interest of workers and their families. He said that Chief Minister Noni-Babu Medhavi Education Assistance Scheme is an important initiative towards giving a better future to the children of labor families. Apart from this, various types of financial assistance are also being provided for higher education and self-employment.

Students shared their experiences

The honored students shared their experiences during the program. He told that he has got a lot of benefit from the schemes of Labor Department and he will use the received amount for higher education and preparation for competitive examinations.

CM Vishnudev Sai joins ‘One tree in the name of mother’ campaign on World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai planted saplings under the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ campaign. He appealed to the people of the state to plant trees in the name of their mothers and contribute actively in environmental protection. The Chief Minister said that people should make this campaign of nature conservation a movement of public participation by planting saplings in their homes, fields, ridges or available places. Labor Department Secretary and Labor Commissioner Himshikhar Gupta, Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh, public representatives, departmental officers, representatives of labor organizations and a large number of workers and their families were present in the program.
