Oil India Limited has discovered a new natural gas well in the Andaman Sea. Union Minister Hardeep Puri said that the presence of gas has been confirmed in the Sri Vijayapuram-3 well, 15 kilometers off the east coast of Andaman Island.
New Delhi: Due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, India is facing shortage of crude oil as well as natural gas. A good news has come in such difficult times. Oil India Ltd. has discovered another well full of natural gas in the Andaman Sea.
Sri Vijayapuram-3 Well
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri shared information about this on social media platform ‘X’. He wrote, ‘Natural gas has been found in the Sri Vijayapuram-3 well dug 15 kilometers away from the east coast of Andaman Island. This well is more than 1900 meters deep. The presence of gas in the well was confirmed by lighting fire (through flaring).
Let us tell you that so far 3 wells have been dug for gas exploration in the Andaman Sea. This is the second well in which success in finding gas has been achieved.
