The 2026 Maruti Suzuki WagonR facelift has been spotted testing on Indian roads, giving us an early glimpse of the upcoming hatchback. Though the test vehicle is heavily camouflaged, the spy images suggest that is likely to continue with the familiar design of the WagonR and may not bring in any major styling changes. The bigger change could be mechanical as the automaker is said to be readying to bring its new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine to the popular hatchback.

The test car is well camouflaged, which makes it hard to determine the small design alterations. But the high and vertical position associated with the WagonR still remains the same. There is little doubt that the front end follows the existing design language of the vehicle, with headlight positioning staying the same.
Turn signals are visible mounted on the fenders in front rather than integrated with the outside rear-view mirrors. The test vehicle lacks front fog lights. As for the sides, there are no apparent changes to be seen there. Finally, at the back, one can find the familiar vertically positioned tail lamps mounted next to the rear windshield. It looks like the face-lift will get only minor aesthetic changes, not the full-scale exterior re-design.

Though there are numerous camouflages and spy pictures, it is impossible to see what the interior of the WagonR facelift looks like. Maruti Suzuki, however, may introduce some innovations in terms of the equipment of the model. Such innovations may include a new-generation infotainment system, extra convenience features, and enhancements of the safety package. But these assumptions still need to be verified by Maruti Suzuki.
2026 Maruti WagonR Facelift: Engine
Powertrain may be the highlight of the WagonR’s facelift. Maruti Suzuki is likely to equip the vehicle with the latest Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. This engine can be seen in vehicles such as Swift and Dzire. The company has also upgraded the Baleno with the Z12E engine by substituting the older 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. If equipped in the WagonR, the new powertrain would be a major shift from the existing engine in the popular hatchback.
