The public is not getting the benefit of GST Rate Cut!
The new GST 2.0 has been implemented in the country, in which major changes have been made in the tax slab. 12% and 28% slabs have been removed. Now only 5% and 18% tax rates have been kept. Along with this, everyday essential items have been made tax free. The government has made these changes so that the common man can get the direct benefit of tax deduction. But the impact of this tax deduction is not reaching the general public properly.
Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare said that the National Consumer Helpline (Nch) has received around 3000 complaints related to GST, in which the complainants are saying that they are not getting any benefit of tax cuts.
GST people are not getting the benefit
Nidhi Khare has made it clear that many retail sellers GST The rates made in rates are not reaching the customers. Instead, they are charging more money from consumers by giving misleading information. For this reason, consumers are feeling cheated and are constantly lodging complaints.
Khare also informed that the ministry has further strengthened its surveillance system. The Ministry has sent notices to the Central Indirect Taxes and Customs Board (CBIC) to investigate complaints and is taking this process very seriously.
Help is being taken from AI
Along with this, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and chatbots are being used to conduct complaints properly. This is helping to find out which sector and which shopkeepers are cheating consumers. This technique is proving effective in identifying vendors who, despite the implementation of GST cut, are charging old prices or hiding the advantage of rate cuts.
