The Government of India on Tuesday has increased the fees and taxes on exported products on Tuesday (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products, Rodtep) scheme for 6 months to 31 March 2026. Director General of Foreign Trade, General of Foreign Trade, DGFT has given this information. The scheme was originally ending on 30 September today.

Director General of Foreign Trade informed that extended benefits will cover the eligible exporters from institutions like Domestic Tariff Area Units, Advanced Authorization (AA) Holders, Export Oriented Unit, (EUS) and Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The revised rates under this scheme will be from 0.3% to 3.9% and the same rates will be applicable on all qualified export products. Rodtep covers more than 10,000 products ranging from farming and cloth to engineering goods, providing an incentive of 1% -4% of the product price in lieu of taxes paid by exporters.

Ethics in the business world with the decision

Under the Rodtep scheme launched in January 2021, exporters are reimbursed by different embedded duty, taxes and charges during manufacturing and distribution, which are not returned by the Center, State or local system under any other program. The scheme has been seen as a means of increasing competitiveness by reducing the impact of non-credited charges.

SC Ralhan, President of the Federation of Indian Export Organizations, FIEO, expressed relief on this decision, saying, “The time of Rodtep has done the work of removing the uncertainty on the exporting community. This step has been taken on such a significant diversion when the exporters are facing the export level, and this step is facing the exports at the Global level, and the exports are facing exports, this step is facing a significant turn. Provides the policy continuity required to create more confidence. ”

According to the official data of the Ministry of Commerce, till 31 March, 2025, the total disbursement under the Rodtep scheme has crossed Rs 57,976.78 crore, which outlines its important role in supporting the country’s business exports. For FY 2025-26, the central government has allocated Rs 18,233 crore under this scheme.
