Former India Opener Urges CSK To Appoint Michael Hussey Their New Head Coach

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are in search of a new head coach following their decision to part ways with Stephen Fleming. CSK and Fleming mutually pared ways after IPL 2026. The Yellow Army has remained tight-lipped about its new head coach and the fans are eagerly waiting for a word from the franchise.

S Ramesh has shared his take on CSK and urged them to appoint Michael Hussey as their new head coach. Speaking on his Instagram page, Ramesh asked for Hussey to be given a new position and complete freedom.

“Even if CSK want a foreign head coach, there is Michael Hussey. He was an exceptional cricketer. He was in Fleming’s shadow until now, but I would urge CSK to make him the head coach. Give Hussey complete freedom as head coach and see what happens,” he said.

Hussey joined CSK as their batting coach before IPL 2018 and has been working for them since then. He played with Fleming in IPL 2008. Fleming joined CSK as their head coach after just one season as a player. Hussey has already denied joining Fleming at England’s Test team and it remains to be seen whether he continues to work for CSK.

It’s a waste to pay a coach 18 to 20 crore

Ramesh also reacted to the rumours of CSK signing Eoin Morgan as their new head coach for Rs 20 crore. Ramesh, who played 19 Tests and 24 ODIs, said that it’s a waste to pay a coach Rs 18 to 20 crore.

“If these reports are true, it’s not worth it for CSK to go for him. Even for an upper-tier player, you think twice before signing him for that amount. Franchises think twice about paying so much for even a current in-form player with a long future. When that’s the case, it’s a waste to pay a coach 18 to 20 crores,” he added.

Morgan, the former captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has never coached a team in IPL. He hasn’t been associated with the T20 league since going unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. Morgan captained KKR to the IPL 2021 final, where they lost to CSK.
