Born on 21 October 1887 in a small Umra village in Nawada district, Krishna Singh started his life with a normal family. But his thinking was not simple. After completing his studies of advocacy, he jumped directly into the freedom struggle. Participated in Mahatma Gandhi -led movements and also paid the jail sentence. The people of Bihar at that time considered him not just a leader, but the voice of their rights.
Bihar’s ‘Premier’ before independence
Even before India became independent, Shri Krishna Singh had become a prominent leader of Bihar. He was called ‘Premier’, that is, the head of the state like today’s Chief Minister. India became independent on 15 August 1947 and the democratic process began. In this new constitutional structure, Mr. Babu became the first Chief Minister of Bihar. That is, the journey from the prison bars to the Chief Minister’s chair, his life is no less than a film story.
