Theater artist and filmmaker Yashwant Sardeshpande passed away. He was 62 years old. It is being told that after doing a show in Dharwad, he reached Bangalore on Monday. There he complained of chest pain. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.

Noted Kannada filmmaker Yashwant Sardeshpande has passed away. According to the news, he had a sudden chest pain. He was hurriedly hospitalized. The doctors could not save them during treatment. Expressing condolences on his death, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi wrote- It is sad to know that our resident of Hubli Yashwant Sardeshpande has passed away. He was a famous Kannada theater actor and playwright who had directed along with working in several plays. His play All the Best was quite successful ‘. About Yashwant Sardeshpande

Yashwant Sardeshpande was born on 13 June 1965 in Vijayapura to Sridhar and Kalpana. He studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya and New English School. He took a Diesel Mechanic course at Kirloskar in Harihar and KSRTC depot. He joined the Ninasam Heggodu Ripartory in 1985-86 due to interest in theater. He also directed plays for Akashvani and Doordarshan and shows for TV. He traveled from North to South to learn theater technic. He did a diploma in Theater Arts from Ninasam Theater Institute in Heggodu. He later also did a certificate course in cinema and drama writing from New York University in 1996. Sardeshpande was known for his contribution to the Kannada theater.

Yashwant Sardeshpande was directed by more than 60 plays

Apart from All the Best, Yashwant Sardeshpande worked in many comedy plays including Rashi Chakra, Olev Jeevan Shakshkara, Ninanadre Naina, Sahi Ri Sahi, Ondata Bhatraddu, Andhayuga, Saheshbaru Barutare, Miss Point, Dil Maange More and Hingadre.com. He had directed more than 60 plays in his career, of which more than 500 performed. He also acted in films like Marm, Amritdhar and Rama Shama Bhama. He wrote about 16 plays and worked in many Kannada TV serials including Papa Pandu and Dashavatar. He was also seen in Kannada Kotyadhipati presented by Puneet Rajkumar. Sardeshpande acted in Kannada, Marathi and Hindi films. He was awarded the State Award for the dialogues written by him in Kannada film Rama Shama Bhama. He was also awarded the Rajyotsav Award in 2010.
