New Delhi: India beat Pakistan by five wickets in a thrilling final to clinch the Asia Cup 2025 title and extend their dominance over the arch-rivals in T20Is. It was India’s third successive victory against Pakistan in the tournament as they went on to lift their second consecutive title while remaining unbeaten in the tournament. India’s memorable triumph was more than just a cricketing achievement, as it was also a symbolic triumph.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi compared India’s victory against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final to Operation Sindoor, a cross-border operation conducted by the Indian armed forces in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The Indian armed forces targeted terrorist infrastructure inside Pakistan as part of Operation Sindoor to avenge the Pahalgam attack.
“#OperationSindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same – India wins! Congrats to our cricketers,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X after Tilak Varma’s heroics helped India chase down the target of 147 runs with two balls to spare and beat Pakistan in a nail-biting final.

Our Prime Minister is also playing on the front foot: Suryakumar Yadav
Reacting to PM Modi’s praise for the Indian team, skipper Suryakumar Yadav thanked him for his support and for standing beside the team during the tournament. The Indian T20I skipper said much like his team, Prime Minister Modi is also playing on the front foot.
“Absolutely, I mean, even our honourable PM sir is also playing cricket on front foot, it’s good to see and if a strong leader like this is standing besides us, then we just have to go out, play our game with a cool mind and just be relaxed and happy and at the same time,” Suryakumar told Times Now.
