Gate 2026 registration last date: If you are willing to apply for GATE 2026 and are not able to do it yet, then there is good news for you. The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati has extended the last date of the application till 6 October 2025. At the same time, the date of online application with late fees has been increased till 9 October 2025. According to the official notification, the GATE exam will be held on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026 this year and its result will be declared on 19 March 2026.
Gate 2026 Which documents are necessary to apply?
Before applying online for GATE 2026, know which documents are necessary-
- Photograph- Recent Passport Size Photo
- Signature- Scan copy of your signature
- ID proof- scan copy of valid photo identity card
- Category Certificate- If SC, ST is in PDF format
- UDID, PWD Certificate- If applied then in PDF format
- Dyslexic Certificate- If applied in PDF format
- Other essential Annexer- If you are asked in the application, then in PDF

- First visit the official website: gate2026.Iitg.ac.in
- Click on the GATE 2026 Registration link available on the home page.
- The new page will open, fill your registration details here.
- Login after registration.
- Fill the application form and pay the fees online.
- Click on submit and download the copy of the application.
- Keep a hard copy of the application confirmation page safe.
GATE 2026 Registration: How much will the application fee be charged?
- Women, SC, ST, PWD candidates: Rs 1000 per paper
- Other candidates and foreign nationals: Rs 2000 per paper
- Payment has to be made with online mode.
Who can apply for GATE 2026?
For GATE 2026, students can apply, who are in the third year of their graduation or the candidates who have completed recognized degrees in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities. Applications can only be made online through the GOAPS portal.
What new changes have taken place in GATE 2026?
This year there has been a special change in the examination pattern. Energy Science (XE-I) paper is now included in the Engineering Science (XE) category. This means that there will be a total of 30 papers now.
