Leh Apex Body has announced a boycott of conversation with the central government. The next round of talks are to be held on 6 October. The Lab Ladakhi has demanded an apology from the Center for telling the protesters “anti-national” and “player in Pakistan”.

Ladakh StateHood Demand: The Lab (Leh APEX Body) announced on Monday that it would boycott the conversation with the central government. It has demanded a judicial inquiry into the firing by security forces on 24 September. Violence took place during a fierce protest in Leh on 24 September. Due to this, 4 people died and around 90 people were injured.

Talk with the central government is going to be held on 6 October

The next round of talks between the representatives of Ladakh and the Central Government are scheduled on 6 October. Leh Apex body and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) were to participate in it. Lab and KDA together are demanding state status and constitutional security to Ladakh. The Lab has demanded an apology from the Center to call Ladakhi protesters “anti-national” and “play in the hands of Pakistan”. This demand has come amid the ongoing movement in Ladakh for state status and constitutional security measures under the Sixth Schedule.

KDA leader Sajjad Kargili demands judicial inquiry

Both Lab and KDA have accused the Union Territory Administration of not handling the protests in Leh last week. KDA leader Sajjad Kargili demanded a fair judicial inquiry into the violence in Leh. He said, “Why bullets were fired. Many people were injured. Its responsibility should be fixed. This is a big example why we want democracy.”

Demand to release Sonam Wangchuk

Ladakh environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has been accused of abetting the mob for violence. He has been arrested under NSA (National Security Act) and kept in Central Jail in Jodhpur. There is anger among his supporters from his arrest. The KDA has demanded immediate release of other people arrested in the Wangchuk and Leh violence case. Kargili said,

Very few people knew about Ladakh’s struggles, but after the arrest of Sonam Wangchuk, these issues and demands of Ladakh have reached the country’s house.
