Karur Stampede: In Karur, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday, 41 people died after a stampede at the rally of actor -turned -actor -turned -actor TV (Tamilga Vatri Kazhagam) chief Vijay. In the FIR registered in this case, Vijay has been made serious allegations. It has been said that the actor came deliberately late. He did a road show without permission.

Vijay delayed to gather crowds

According to the report of India Today, TVK District Secretary Mathiajhagan had sought permission by asking for 10,000 people to join the rally. The crowd exceeded 25,000 after the news of Vijay’s arrival. Vijay deliberately delayed in coming, so the crowd gathered more.

The FIR states, “Instead of organizing the program on time, Vijay was delayed by 4 hours to show huge crowds. Thousands of people stood in the sun and tired. This caused a stampede.”

Vijay did a road show without permission

According to FIR, Vijay reached the district border at around 4.45 pm in Veludhampalayam. Even after being late in arrival, he did a road show without permission. Vijay’s convoy reached Veluchampuram at 7 pm, by then the crowd had become uncontrollable. Police officials warned Mathiajhagan, Bushi Anand and CTR Nirmal Kumar that the situation was getting out of control. This may cause suffocation and injury at risk, but warnings were ignored.

TV leaders could not control the crowd even after helping the police

The report said that even after the help of the police, TVK leaders could not control the crowd. People climbed trees and temporary shelters built on the roadside. Due to high weight, they collapsed, causing people standing down and suffocated. TVK was allowed to hold a meeting between 3 pm and 10 pm, but Vijay came late with the intention of showing more crowds.

The FIR features three senior TVK leaders District Secretary Mathiajhagan, State General Secretary Bushi Anand and State Joint Secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar. These have been booked under sections 105, 110, 125 (B) and 223 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) Act as well as section 3 of the Tamil Nadu Public Property Act.
