New Delhi: India completed a clean sweep over Pakistan, winning their third successive game against their arch-rivals in the Asia Cup 2025, en route to an unbeaten title-winning campaign in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Suryaumar Yadav’s men defeated Salman Agha & Co. by five wickets in a thrilling summit clash to claim a record-extending ninth continental title. After two one-sided games, the nail-biting contest was full of ebbs and flows and proved worthy of a final.
Pakistan were on top for long periods of the game, but couldn’t keep their composure in the crunch moments as India held their nerve to edge out a match, which looked out of their grasp on more than one occasion on Sunday. The Men In Green started well in both innings, but allowed India to make a comeback due to some insensible batting and bizarre decision-making by Salman Agha on the field.
Pakistan relinquish control, India take advantage
India looked down and out at 20 for 3 after losing the superstar trio of Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav inside five overs, but a composed Tilak Varma anchored the run-chase brilliantly as India maintained their 100 per cent record while chasing against Pakistan in men’s T20Is with their ninth succesful chase against the arch-foes.
Varma was ably supported by Sanju Samson & Shivam Dube, aided by Salman Agha’s questionable bowling selections and dismal bowling by Haris Rauf. During the batting, Pakistan relinquished control after suffering a dramatic batting collapse, losing their last nine wickets for 33 runs to finish at 146 all out.
Coming in the backdrop of unprecedented tensions and acrimony, the Asia Cup 2025 win was extra special for India and unsurprisingly brought immense happiness to Indian fans, who flocked the streets across the country to celebrate the landmark victory.
