Ollie Robinson-Kyle Jamieson: The first match of the Test series between England and New Zealand is being played at Lord’s. On the very first day of this Test match, which started from June 4, there was a showdown between two such bowlers, who returned to Test cricket after 27 months through this match. One of them was England’s fast bowler Olly Robinson and the other was New Zealand’s pacer Kyle Jamieson. On the first day of the England-New Zealand Test match, both these bowlers lined up wickets for their respective teams as soon as they held the ball in their hands. A total of 16 wickets fell on the first day of the Test match, out of which 9 wickets were taken only by the two bowlers who returned to the Test after a long time.

Robinson-Jamieson return to Test after 27 months, wreak havoc

Both Olly Robinson and Kyle Jamieson played their last Test in February 2024. In such a situation, when he stepped into Test cricket again in June 2026, 27 months had passed. The condition of the first match of the 3-Test series being played at Lord’s is that by the end of the first day’s play, New Zealand had lost 6 wickets for 61 runs. Before that, the England team was all out for 140 runs in just 39.4 overs. Kyle Jamieson was the reason for England’s bad condition, while New Zealand’s condition was caused by Robinson.

Robinson bowled 3 wickets maiden in the first over

Returning to Test after 27 months, Olly Robinson picked up the red ball and the wickets were lined up. He bowled 3 wickets maiden in his very first over. Meaning, he took 3 wickets in the very first over of his comeback test without giving any runs.

Olly Robinson bowled the first two dot balls. Then Devon Conway was LBW on the third ball. After that the fourth ball was again bowled a dot. On the 5th ball, he got Kane Williamson caught by Milo Gay and on the sixth and last ball, he made Rachin Ravindra LBW before he could open his account, in this way he spoiled the start of New Zealand in the very first over by giving only 3 runs and 3 blows.

4 wickets for 10 runs… Robinson is amazing

After giving this super performance in the very first over of the comeback test, he clean bowled his fourth victim, Darryl Mitchell. By the end of the first day’s play, Robinson took 4 wickets for 10 runs in 6 overs.

Jamieson’s storm, 5 England batsmen blown away

Before Olly Robinson, Kyle Jamieson also stormed the Lord’s Test, taking away 5 England batsmen. Jamieson, who was returning to Test cricket after 27 months, took 5 wickets for 62 runs in 14 overs during England’s innings. He achieved the feat of taking 5 wickets for the sixth time in his Test career. The effect of Kyle Jamieson’s lethal bowling was that the England team could not even score 150 runs in the first innings.

It is clear that taking full advantage of the help from the Lord’s wicket, Robinson and Jamieson have done their best to make their return to Test cricket after 27 months memorable.
