In a major boost to railway development in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched four new Amrit Bharat Express trains in Bihar on Friday, July 18, which will be a huge advancement in lowering and modernising passenger transport in eastern India.
The Prime Minister arrived at Motihari, Bihar and joined a public function there, inaugurating, dedicating, and laying the foundation stone for various infrastructure and development projects worth ₹7,200 crore, including the four new Amrit Bharat Express.
The principal goal of the new Amrit Bharat Express services is to improve regional connectivity and provide residents of Bihar and neighbouring states with an affordable and comfortable rail travel option.
New Routes Announced
1. Rajendra Nagar Terminal (Patna) to New Delhi
2. Bapudham Motihari to Anand Vihar Terminal (Delhi)
3. Darbhanga to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar)
4. Malda Town to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) via Bhagalpur
These new routes fall in line with Indian Railways’ vision of developing an efficient supply chain and a future-ready railway network.
Initial Services
According to PTI, the Rajendra Nagar Terminal to New Delhi Amrit Bharat Express will have a special inaugural run leaving Jharkhand at 11:45 AM on July 18 and arriving into New Delhi on July 19 at 4:00 PM. The special return service will depart New Delhi on July 19 at 6:00 PM, with a scheduled arrival to the Rajendra Nagar Terminal at 11:45 PM on the night.
Patna New Delhi Amrit Bharat schedule
The Patna – New Delhi Amrit Bharat Express ( Train no.22361/22362) will commence regular daily service from July 31, 2025, the Northern Railway has announced.
Train No. 22361 will depart from Rajendra Nagar Terminal at 7:45 pm daily and reach New Delhi at 1:10 pm the following day.
Train no. 22362, the return service, will begin from New Delhi at 7:10 pm from August 1, reaching Rajendra Nagar Terminal at 11:45 am the next day.
The areas of focus for the government is modernisation of Indian Railways and the Amrit Bharat Express service will provide an inexpensive and comfortable mode of travel for long distances for points along the Patna-New Delhi route.
Route and Halts
The Amrit Bharat Express operating between Patna and New Delhi will stop at the following stations: Ghaziabad, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhaya Junction, Govindpuri, Patna, Danapur, Ara, Dubedarganj, Buxar.
Coach Composition
1. 8 Sleeper Class coaches
2. 11 General (unreserved) coaches
3. 2 luggage-cum-brake vans
4. 1 pantry car
Fare and Features
According to IRCTC, the Sleeper Class fare for the Patna-New Delhi Amrit Bharat Express is ₹560, which is slightly higher compared to the average fare of ₹520 which is associated with almost all of the other existing trains operating along the same route in the sleeper class.
Officials from Indian Railways say the slight fare increase, compared with existing fare structures, can be attributed to services and facilities to be enjoyed by the passenger with a jerk-free ride on the Amrit Bharat Express .
Expansion of Amrit Bharat Express Services
Patna to New Delhi route will be the first Amrit Bharat service on this corridor and becomes the fourth in the country. Previously launched routes include:
1. Darbhanga to Anand Vihar Terminal (Delhi)
2. Malda Town to SMVT Bengaluru
3. Mumbai LTT to Saharsa
