Last rites to be held today, SIT formed, killers identified, know what happened till now – Khel Ja

The ongoing protest in Rajasthan against the murder of National President of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi ended late on Wednesday night. Gogamedi’s wife Sheela Shekhawat made this announcement while addressing the ongoing protest in front of Metro Mass Hospital in Mansarovar, Jaipur. He said that the police has given a written assurance of arresting the accused within 72 hours.

Also, Shyam Nagar police station officer, beat in-charge and beat constable have been suspended in this case. Gogamedi’s body was taken from a private hospital to Sawai Man Singh Hospital for post-mortem. Where after the post-mortem by the Medical Board on Wednesday night, Gogamedi’s last rites will be performed in his native village today.

  1. The police have identified both the murderers seen in the CCTV footage in this case. One of them is Rohit Rathore of Makrana, Rajasthan and the other is Nitin Fauji of Mahendragarh, Haryana. Jaipur Police Deputy Commissioner (South) Yogesh Goyal said that it has been decided to suspend Shyam Nagar police station officer and other police personnel guilty of negligence in the case.

Gogamedi’s wife Sheela Shekhawat said in the FIR lodged at Shyam Nagar police station that her husband had informed Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and the Director General of Police through three letters that he was in danger to his life. Earlier, Gogamedi’s wife had appealed to continue the protest until her demands were not met.
  3. Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday to investigate Gogamedi’s murder. There were demonstrations at many places in the state in protest against this massacre. The protesters blocked the highway at many places and also stopped the train. However, there is no news of violence from anywhere.
  4. According to the police, the attackers have been identified and an operation is being conducted to arrest them. A reward of Rs 5 lakh each has been announced for anyone providing information about the attackers.
  5. After this massacre, Governor Kalraj Mishra spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on phone regarding the situation in the state. Earlier on Wednesday, Governor Mishra held a meeting with top officials of the police administration and directed to take strict action against the criminals.
  6. People of Rajput community demonstrated in many cities including Jaipur. Gogamedi supporters announced Jaipur bandh in protest against the murder. Due to this, all the markets remained closed and there was less movement of vehicles on the roads. Precautionary holiday was declared in many schools in the capital Jaipur.
  7. Earlier in the evening, Gogamedi’s wife had appealed to the people sitting outside the hospital not to move from there. Sheela Shekhawat told the people sitting on the dharna that the people of the society should not move away from here until the accused are encountered.
  8. In a Facebook post, gangster Rohit Godara claimed responsibility for the murder and said Gogamedi was killed for ‘supporting’ his enemies. Godara is said to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said that the two attackers who shot dead Gogamedi and Naveen Singh Shekhawat at the house of Rajput leader on Tuesday, have been identified and they are being searched. It is being said that Naveen Singh Shekhawat had gone to the Rajput leader’s house with the attackers. He said that one accused is from Haryana and the other is from Rajasthan.
  10. Gogamedi was shot dead in his house in Shyamnagar here on Tuesday. Joseph said that, however, it is a matter of investigation whether Naveen Shekhawat, who runs a clothes shop, was aware of the intentions of the two attackers or not. Shekhawat’s father Girdhari Singh said that his son is being falsely implicated in the case and he wants justice.
  11. He said that he did not know how his son came in contact with the killers. He said that he owned a clothes shop and had recently started the business of buying and selling land. Rajput community had announced Jaipur bandh on Wednesday in protest against this massacre. Rajput Karni Sena official Mahipal Singh Makrana accused him of failing to provide security to Gogamedi and demanded the removal of the Director General of Police.
  12. He said, intelligence information about the murder of Sukhdev Gogamedi was received from Punjab Police, but Rajasthan Police did not provide him security. This is clearly a failure of the police. The Director General of Police should be removed, action should be taken against negligent police officers.

Markets remained closed in Jaipur, Kota, Bundi, Ajmer, Sawai Madhopur, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar, Baran and some other districts, while a rally was taken out in Udaipur and a demonstration was held near the Collectorate complex amid heavy police deployment. In Jaipur, protesters blocked the 200-foot bypass road of the Jaipur-Delhi National Highway and several places on the Jaipur-Agra National Highway.
  14. In view of the bandh and jam in Rajasthan, Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (Roadways) stopped operating many buses. According to Roadways spokesperson, Agra Road, Jaipur to Kekri, Bari to Baseri in Dholpur, Bhadra to Rajgarh, Kishangarh, Hindauli, Udaipur, Nohar to Bhadra, Chittorgarh, Barmer to Jodhpur, Beawar to Jaipur-Jodhpur, Jhunjhunu to Udaipurwati, Pali. Bus operations were stopped on Jodhpur, Kuchaman, Nasirabad to Kota route, Rajkheda to Agra, Bharatpur Dholpur route.
  15. Due to the statewide bandh, the protesters stopped five trains of Ajmer and Jaipur divisions of North Western Railway on the Bhilwara Mandafia, Kanakpura-Jaipur railway route, due to which there was a delay of 16 to 54 minutes in the operation of these trains. Sporadic incidents of stone pelting were also reported from Jaipur. However, alert policemen dispersed the crowd gathered at Gurjar’s thadi. Some people also protested outside the BJP office.
