More than 8 lakh posts of teachers are vacant in the country. According to the data released by the Union Education Ministry, more than 8.4 lakh posts of teachers are vacant in government schools of various states. These vacant posts are at both primary and secondary levels. Most of the posts of teachers are vacant in primary schools. According to media reports, according to the data released by the ministry, 7.2 lakh posts of teachers in primary schools and 1.2 lakh posts of teachers in secondary schools are vacant. In the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, more than half of the posts of teachers at both primary and secondary levels are vacant.

Let us tell you that at present, Shibhak recruitment process is going on on a large scale in Bihar. In the first phase, recruitment was done on more than 1 lakh 70 thousand posts. In the second phase, the examination for recruitment on more than 1 lakh 22 thousand posts in Bihar will be held from December 7 and will end on December 15. According to the report released by the Parliamentary Standing Committee in March, there were a total of 9.8 lakh vacant posts of teachers in various states.

According to the report, Maharashtra reported zero teacher vacancies at the primary level for the academic year 2023-24. Other states including Goa, Kerala, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Sikkim have also reported zero vacancies at both primary and secondary levels.
