Gut second brain: For good health of the body, it is also important to have good gut health. Gut health and brain also have a connection. If the health of the stomach is good then the brain health is also good. That is why Gut is also called a secondary brain, but what is the connection in the mind and stomach, AIIMS has been told by Dr. Anoop Saraya of the Gastroenterology Department of Delhi and Dr. Deepak Gunjan currently in AIIMS. In a conversation with TV9, both of them have talked about all the problems related to Gut. There was talk about problems like gas, indigestion, obesity, fat and it was understood why Gut is called second brain.

Doctors told that we have all heard that the path of the heart goes through the stomach, but now science says that the brain and stomach also have a direct relationship. Our stomach ie Gut is often called second brain and there are many scientific reasons behind it. Below is some important question which in common life we all want to know how our gut works? What is the problem? For the gut work properly, what changes should be made in the lifestyle… It was tried to know all these answers, let’s understand.

What is brain-ghat axis?

Dr. Anoop Saraya said that- there is a strong communication system between our brain and the stomach called brain-ghat axis. This mechanism works through our nervous system, hormones and immune systems. With the help of this Axis, the stomach and mind continuously send signals to each other. When you are under stress, there is a feeling of torsion or pain in the stomach and when the stomach is bad, the mood also deteriorates. This is due to this brain-ghat axis.

Burns of neurons in gut

Dr. Deepak Gunjan explained that – you will be surprised to know that the number of neurons (nerve cells) occur in our brain, the more our guts are in the intestines. This is the reason that the stomach takes its own decisions many times such as digesting food, stomach gurgle or moving food. That is why gut is called second brain.

Gut’s good bacteria and bad bacteria

Dr. Anoop Saraya told that – millions of types of bacteria live in our gut and some good (good bacteria) and some bad (bad bacteria). The entire ecosystem that is made by mixing these bacteria is called Gut Microbiom. It affects our immunity, mental state, digestion and even sleep. When there is disturbance in this balance, many types of diseases start such as gas, indigestion, inflammation, flatulence, weight loss or increased, even mental stress.

How does Gut explain whether the digestion is correct or not?

-If the food does not digest, the stomach remains bloated, the weight is decreasing rapidly, or repeated diarrhea, then it is a signs of poor digestion.

– It can be more serious in aged people, while children are often common.

– If the weight is decreasing rapidly, blood is coming in the stool or the appetite is reduced, then see the doctor immediately.

Lifestyle to keep the gut fine

-Gut health is the most affected in today’s sitting lifestyle.

-Junk food, lack of sleep, stress and low physical activity spoils the balance of our stomach bacteria.

– This can also cause inflammation, infection and sometimes problem of absorption, that is, nutrients are not able to go properly in the body.
