Police say that people started gathering from morning to see Vijay, while the rally was to be held from 3 pm to 10 pm. The crowd started gathering from 11 am on Saturday morning and by the time Vijay reached around 7:40 pm, people were waiting for several hours without food and water. The same situation became the cause of stampede.
