The Chhattisgarh High Court completed 25 years of establishment. Governor Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai appreciated the achievements of the judiciary at the silver jubilee celebrations. Transparency and technological innovations were specially outlined.
Raipur. The Silver Jubilee Celebration of the establishment of Chhattisgarh High Court was held in the main hospitality of His Excellency Governor Shri Ramen Deka. The program started by lighting the lamp by the guests. The High Court judges welcomed the Chief Guest Governor Shri Deka, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai and Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu with saplings and souvenirs.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Saw, Mr. Vijay Sharma, Finance Minister Mr. OP Chaudhary, Law Minister Mr. Gajendra Yadav and former Governor Ramesh Bais were present and many other dignitaries. A special souvenir based on the silver jubilee was also released at the ceremony.
Governor Ramen Deka’s address- Justice should be accessible to everyone
Chief Guest Governor Shri Ramen Deka said that this opportunity is a matter of pride for him. He reminded that when the state of Chhattisgarh was established on 1 November 2000, the foundation of the High Court was also laid in Bilaspur. He described the judiciary as the interpreter of the Constitution, the protector of civil rights and the guards of justice. The Governor appreciated a quick solution of cases through Lok Adalats and said that justice should be accessible not only for powerful people but also for village and poor and common citizens. Only then will the democratic system be strengthened.
25 years of court achievements
Governor Shri Deka said that the first Chief Justice Honorable W.A. Shishk and his successors gave this court dignity and strong judicial tradition. The hard work of advocates and judicial staff strengthened the institution. In these 25 years, the court gave important decisions on issues like constitutional morality, civil freedom, tribal rights, environmental protection, good governance and social justice. The court ensured that progress is not at the cost of justice by balanced in development and rights.
Address of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai- High Court gave new identity
Distinguished guest Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that this is the silver birth anniversary year of the establishment of Chhattisgarh and along with this, High Court and Assembly are also completing 25 years. He said that the High Court has given a new identity to Bilaspur. The Chief Minister paid tribute to Bharat Ratna, former Prime Minister and Chhattisgarh state’s creator Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Efforts to strengthen the judicial structure
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is continuously working to strengthen the judicial structure. In the last two years, the budget of Law and Legislative Department has been increased by 25% and 29%. He said that many judges of Chhattisgarh High Court have reached the Supreme Court of the country. Judicial procedures such as virtual court, live streaming, digital record room and Aadhaar -based search have made judicial processes more transparent. He also said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi abolished the British Penal Code and implemented the Code of India, whose focus is not on the punishment but on justice.
Supreme Court judges’ views
Supreme Court Judge Shri J.K. Maheshwari said that in the coming 25 years, the target should be to take the judiciary to new heights. He said that the common man comes with confidence in the court and the biggest objective of the judiciary is to maintain this belief. Supreme Court Judge Shri Prashant Kumar Mishra also greeted and shared his memoirs on the occasion.
Message of Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu
Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu said that it is not just a celebration of travel of 25 years but is an honor of the strong tradition that has contributed continuously to the protecting the Constitution and democracy. He said that the High Court has made justice simple and accessible by adopting transparency and technology.
Welcome speech of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha
Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court Mr. Ramesh Sinha said in the welcome address that Rajat Jayanti is a moment of pride for all of us. In the last 25 years, the court has played an important role in establishing the rule of law and bringing positive changes in judicial functions.

At the end of the ceremony, Judge Mr. Sanjay K Agarwal expressed his gratitude. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Saw, Mr. Vijay Sharma, Finance Minister Mr. OP Chaudhary, Law Minister Mr. Gajendra Yadav, Chief Justice of Madras High Court Mr. M.M. Srivastava, Chief Justice of Telangana High Court P.
