Why are there alarm bells for those going to the mountains?

The Meteorological Department has warned that this time, along with rain, there is every possibility of strong storm and hailstorm in the hilly areas. At present, special black clouds called ‘Powerhouse’ (CB Clouds) are forming in the sky. These clouds bring with them strong winds blowing at a speed of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour and sudden heavy rains. Due to such sudden heavy rains in the mountains, it is very common for roads to be closed, rocks to slide and traffic jams to occur. Therefore, leaving without preparation can invite big trouble.

Where and when will the monsoon reach?

Although the season was delayed by just 3 days from its scheduled date, but now it is progressing very fast. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains will continue in South India and coastal areas of Northeast, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for the next few days. Soon after this it will move towards Goa and Maharashtra. By mid-June, monsoon clouds will cover Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Bengal as well as Jharkhand and Bihar. People of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi-NCR are expected to get relief from the scorching heat by the last week of June or the beginning of July.
