AC Safety Gadgets: What are the main reasons for AC blast? How does a PRCD plug help keep the AC safe? Why are stabilizer and MCB necessary for AC?
The heat is intense these days, people are running ACs day and night to get relief from it. But a new threat is emerging from this. For the last few weeks, news of AC blasts has been coming from different parts of the country. A retired IAS officer lost his life due to AC blast. A fire spread due to a blast in a building. Apart from this, many other incidents have also come to light. The question is whether the AC bursts suddenly or are there some other reasons for it.
Why does the risk of AC blast increase?
During extreme summers, when the temperature reaches 45 degrees Celsius or above, there is additional pressure on the AC compressor. Along with this, if there are frequent fluctuations in voltage, the parts inside the machine may become excessively hot. In such a situation, problems like short circuit, faulty wiring or gas leakage can cause a serious accident. You can avoid these accidents. Just with AC you will need to install 3 devices. About which we will tell here.
PRCD plug will provide additional protection
PRCD (Portable Residual Current Device) plug is a safety device, which is installed between the plug and socket of the AC. The sensor present in it immediately stops the power supply as soon as it detects current leakage. If current leakage starts due to wiring damage or overheating inside the AC, this device cuts off the power within a few moments. This reduces the possibility of a major accident. Most PRCD plugs are also provided with a reset button, so that it can be reused after the problem has been corrected.
Stabilizer will protect the compressor from damage
Electricity voltage does not remain stable in summer. Sometimes the voltage becomes too low and sometimes it increases excessively. In such a situation, there is additional pressure on the AC compressor. The stabilizer provides balanced voltage to the AC, due to which the machine works safely. Many modern stabilizers also have high-cut and low-cut features, which cut off the AC power supply in case of extremely low voltage. This reduces the risk of damage to the compressor.

Install MCB instead of ordinary switch
If a normal electric switch is still being used for your AC, it would be better to replace it with a good quality MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker). MCB can handle heavy load and short circuit conditions much better than a normal switch. In case of any technical fault or overload, it automatically trips and stops the power supply. This greatly reduces the possibility of fire or other serious accidents. Apart from this, regular servicing of AC, clean filter and correct wiring are also equally important. By getting the AC checked from time to time, potential hazards can be prevented.
