Mitsubishi has resurrected the legendary Pajero nameplate with a new fifth-generation model that is a flagship seven-seat SUV with genuine off-road ability. The new-generation SUV is based on the Triton’s ladder-frame platform and will make its debut in Thailand before being rolled out to Japan and Australia by the end of March 2027. Speaking of India, when the Mitsubishi Pajero was on sale in the country, it was priced at around INR 27 lakh, making it a premium proposition in the seven-seat SUV space. If Mitsubishi does launch the new generation Pajero in India, the pricing could see it directly competing with the Toyota Fortuner.
New Mitsubishi Pajero: Engine
The car runs on the engine of the Triton 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that has 204hp and 480Nm torque power. It has been fitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission system, but with 10Nm more torque compared to the Triton.

The latest Mitsubishi Pajero gives this popular model a modern makeover and does away with its retro styling seen in previous versions. The styling borrows elements from the recent range of Mitsubishi SUVs like the Xforce and Destinator, but at the same time, the SUV has a more aggressive and robust styling theme.
Some of the styling features seen in the SUV include a wide grille, massive wheel arches and bulky body cladding for added protection. With a relatively flat roof and large glass area, there will be ample space inside the SUV, whereas side steps, mud flaps and higher ground clearance make the car an off-roader.
The SUV has overall dimensions of 4,920mm in length, 1,925mm in width and 1,910mm in height, with the wheelbase measuring 2,870mm. Depending on the trim level, the SUV comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, and the spare wheel is fitted under the body, whereas the rear of the SUV comes with a regular tailgate.
New Mitsubishi Pajero: Cabin, Features
The new Pajero provides ample three-row accommodation that seats seven people. The second-row seat in the new Pajero can be slid forward by up to 150 mm and folded for easy access to the third-row seats or increased luggage space. Its flat roof provides increased headroom for passengers sitting in the rear seats.
Upgraded versions of the new Pajero come with two 14.3-inch display screens on the dashboard, while entry-level versions come with 12.3-inch display screens. Mitsubishi has kept some physical buttons for frequently used features such as climate control in its new Pajero model and uses a rotary knob for choosing different four-wheel-drive modes.
