For Bihar Election 2025, AIMIM has nominated Ghulam Sarwar from Baiyi seat. Owaisi has sought 6 seats from the Grand Alliance, but targeted for not getting the answer. The party has also fielded a Hindu candidate from Dhaka, which has made the contest interesting.
Patna: The countdown of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has started and all political parties have started struggling to help women and male voters in their court. Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM (AIMIM) has declared its new bet in the election field and declared its candidate from Bayi assembly seat.
AIMIM has nominated Ghulam Sarwar from Bayi. This is the second candidate of the party. The Bayi seat was first won by AIMIM in 2020, but the then MLA Syed Ruknuddin Ahmed later joined the RJD. Now Ghulam Sarwar will contest this seat.
Ticket to Ghulam Sarwar
Ghulam Sarwar contested as an independent candidate in 2020 and finished fourth with about 5 thousand votes. Earlier in 2015, he got 16 thousand votes as AIMIM candidate. AIMIM believes that the people of Seemanchal region will trust the party this time and will win Ghulam Sarwar.
AIMIM’s strategy and Owaisi’s appeal
Asaduddin Owaisi organized a street gathering in Baiyi on Friday. Addressing the public at West Chowk and Simbari Chowk, he appealed to win Ghulam Sarwar. Owaisi said that AIMIM will contest the Bihar assembly elections strongly this time and has also expressed his desire to join the Grand Alliance to stop the BJP.
Owaisi also targeted the Grand Alliance and said that his state president Akhtarul Iman wrote a letter to Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav demanding only 6 seats. Despite this, no response has come yet. He said, “The people of Bihar are seeing who is the BJP’s B team.”
Last election and triangular contest
There were indications of a triangular contest in the last election on the Baiyi assembly seat. This time too, political equations remain almost the same. The Grand Alliance and NDA have not yet announced the names of their candidates. AIMIM claims that the people of Seemanchal will trust the party this time too.
AIMIM preparation on other seats
Earlier, AIMIM had announced a ticket to Rana Ranjit Singh from Dhaka assembly seat in East Champaran. The special thing is that AIMIM has fielded a Hindu candidate from this seat. Rana Ranjit comes from Rajput society and is currently campaigning vigorously. It is an indication that AIMIM is now working on a strategy to rise above religious identity to the voters of all classes.
Electoral impact
This new bet of AIMIM is making the equation of Bihar assembly elections more interesting. Both NDA and Grand Alliance will have to reconsider their strategy with the entry of Ghulam Sarwar on Baiyi seat. Now it has to be seen that in the triangular contest, the public’s stand will go and how many seats AIMIM will be able to add to their account.
