A groom in East Champaran of Bihar demanded a gold chain from his in-laws before performing the vermilion ceremony. After this the girl flatly refused to marry. The family members tried to pacify the girl but she did not budge from her decision. After which the wedding procession that had come from Patna had to return without the bride. The matter is of Chakia police station area of the district. Actually, the marriage procession of Pawan Kumar of Patna had come to the well of Chakia police station area of the district. The girl’s family welcomed the wedding procession at the door as per their capacity. After this the boy and girl garlanded each other. Everything was going well. The bride and groom were busy in the wedding procession, eating and drinking.
Wedding rituals were being completed. When the turn came to donate vermilion, the groom demanded a gold chain. The boy said that he would not donate vermilion without taking the gold chain. After the boy demanded dowry like this, the girl also refused to marry Pawan Kumar. The girl is from Jharkhand. The well is his maternal home.
Case reached police station, dowry returned
After the girl’s refusal there was an uproar. Till now the groom was demanding the gold chain and threatening the girl’s family not to marry him, now after the bride’s refusal, they lost their senses. After this a situation of altercation arose between the two sides. When the matter escalated, someone informed the police. Then the police reached the spot and called both the parties and took them to the police station. Here both the parties presented their views in front of the police station. Once again an attempt was made to convince the girl but the girl did not agree to marry. Then the groom’s side returned the dowry money to the bride’s side and returned to Patna without taking the bride.
The girl’s mother became ill due to shock
Meanwhile, the mother fell ill due to the shock of her daughter not getting married. The mother has been admitted to the hospital. The girl’s family said that everyone got hurt after seeing the actions of the groom and his brother. When the girl insisted on not getting married, the family members also stood in support of the girl’s decision fearing some untoward incident in the future.
