Kailash Vijayvargiya, who is known as the trouble-shooter leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has once again entered the electoral fray. He is contesting elections after 10 years. Under special planning, BJP is making Vijayvargiya contest elections from Indore-1 assembly seat of Madhya Pradesh. Kailash Vijayvargiya is counted among the successful leaders in politics. Vijayvargiya is currently the national general secretary of the party. However, this time his son has not been given the ticket.

Kailash Vijayvargiya is again in the election fray, this time giving information in his affidavit filed for the election, he said that the Vijayvargiya couple has assets worth Rs 14.57 crore. His annual income is Rs 8.26 lakh. He has movable assets of more than Rs 70 lakh and immovable assets of more than Rs 2.76 crore. Kailash Vijayvargiya alone has assets worth more than Rs 3 crore. Wife Asha has total assets worth Rs 11.12 crore and this includes both movable and immovable properties.

Started politics from ABVP

Talking about the political career of Kailash Vijayvargiya, he started his political journey in 1975 from Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Then in 1983 he became a councilor of Indore Municipal Corporation. He became MLA for the first time in 1990. He won from Indore-4 seat. He was again victorious in the 1993 assembly elections also. In 1998, he managed to win the election from Indore-2 seat by defeating Congress’s Kripa Shankar Shukla and also scored a hat-trick of 3 consecutive victories.

He was elected Mayor of Indore Municipal Corporation in the year 2000. In 2001, Vijayvargiya was elected as the President of the All India Council of Mayors. In 2003, he was named Chairman of the South Asia Mayors Council. In the assembly elections held in the state this year, he contested from Indore-2 seat and won for the fourth consecutive time. In 2004, he became a minister in the government of Babulal Gaur. Then in 2005, he was also made a minister in Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s cabinet. He again joined the Shivraj cabinet in December 2005 as the Minister of Public Works as well as Information Technology, Science and Technology.

Minister in MP for 12 years

Vijayvargiya, who was in the news for his rhetoric, was again victorious from the Ambedkar Nagar-MH seat of Indore in the 2008 assembly elections. Then he won from the same seat in the 2013 elections also. Contesting elections from different seats of Indore, he managed to win elections on 6 consecutive seats. He was again made a minister in Shivraj cabinet. He was a minister in Madhya Pradesh government for 12 years.

In 2014, Vijayvargiya was made in-charge of BJP election campaign in Haryana. Vijayvargiya’s stature in the party continued to grow. In 2015, he was made the General Secretary of the party and then he was sent to Bengal so that BJP could perform better there.
