Allari Naresh is best known for his comedy films. He built his career with successful entertainers and delivered several blockbusters in the genre before moving towards more serious roles. After focusing on such films for a while, he is now returning to comedy with “Ramba Oorvashi Menaka”, which is scheduled to hit the screens this weekend.
According to Allari Naresh, the changing nature of comedy has made it difficult for actors and filmmakers to make full-fledged comedy entertainers today.
He pointed out that audiences are already exposed to a constant stream of comedy through memes, WhatsApp forwards and social media content. In such a scenario, filmmakers need to come up with genuinely original comic situations and ideas to make audiences laugh in theatres.
He also feels that the growing emphasis on political correctness has made writers more cautious. Before writing a joke, they have to consider whether it could hurt a particular individual, community, section or gender. According to him, this has also contributed to the decline of out-and-out comedy films.
Interestingly, Allari Naresh said he mimicked a few actors in “Ramba Oorvashi Menaka” for certain humorous situations. However, he made sure that the imitation did not hurt any actor or their fans.
“Ramba Oorvashi Menaka” marks Allari Naresh’s return to an out-and-out comedy after a considerable gap.
