George Russell will start from pole position for the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix after delivering a stunning lap in qualifying at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
The Mercedes driver will be joined on the front row by teammate Kimi Antonelli, securing a front-row lockout for the Silver Arrows ahead of Sunday’s race. McLaren’s Lando Norris qualified third, while championship leader Oscar Piastri will start alongside him in fourth.

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton claimed fifth for Ferrari, with Max Verstappen lining up sixth after a difficult qualifying session for Red Bull.
Elsewhere, Isack Hadjar continued his impressive form by qualifying seventh, ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad and Alpine’s Franco Colapinto completed the top 10.

Mercedes target victory at Canadian GP
Mercedes head into the Canadian Grand Prix in a commanding position after locking out the front row with Russell and Antonelli. However, both McLarens remain firmly in contention, with Norris and Piastri starting directly behind the Silver Arrows.
Hamilton will also be hoping to challenge from fifth, while Verstappen faces a tougher task from sixth after admitting Red Bull lacked pace throughout qualifying.
