New Delhi: Abhishek Sharma continued his excellent form in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 after he smashed a consecutive third half-century in the match against Sri Lanka on Friday. The flamboyant opener recorded a fiery fifty off just 22 balls taking the Sri Lankan bowlers to the cleaners in the last Super Four clash of the continental cup.
Sri Lanka won the toss and invited India to bat first in what is a dead rubber for both the sides. The Lankans are already out of the event while India have earned a place in the final against Pakistan on Sunday. Meanwhile, enroute his blazing half-century, Abhishek achieved a massive feat in the history of the continental tournament.

Highest run-scorer in T20 Asia Cup
After the southpaw got to his 41st run in the 19th delivery, he became the highest run-scorer in a T20 Asia Cup edition. The left-handed Indian batter surpassed Virat Kohli (276 runs) and Mohammed Rizwan (281 runs) to become the highest run-scorer in a single edition of the T20 Asia Cup. Abhishek became the first player in the history of a T20 Asia Cup edition to cross the 300-run mark.
As unfortunate as it might sound, the fiery batter once again missed on a century after he lost his wicket for 61 runs off just 31 balls. In the lethal innings, he smashed two sixes and as many as eight boundaries. He also joined the elite list of Indian batters to have scored three consecutive 50-plus scores for the country in the shortest format.
