Singer and composer Vishal Mishra has announced plans to perform benefit concerts in Nepal and Assam, pledging that every penny raised will go towards flood relief and support for people affected by the disasters.
Mishra shared the announcement on Instagram on Saturday, saying he was deeply affected by the devastation and would soon provide details of the concerts.
“My heart is heavy seeing what’s happening. So I have made a decision. I WILL PERFORM A CONCERT IN NEPAL AND A CONCERT IN ASSAM. EVERY SINGLE PENNY WILL GO TOWARDS FLOOD RELIEF AND THE PEOPLE AFFECTED. I GIVE YOU MY WORD. Announcement soon,” he wrote.
He captioned the post, “Stay strong, will do whatever I can individually, Har Har Mahadev.”
Assam has been severely affected by floods during the 2026 monsoon season. The state witnessed intense rainfall in late June, followed by another severe spell from July 19 that was aggravated by monsoonal downpours and upstream cloudbursts. Floodwaters subsequently inundated villages across several areas.
Nepal was hit by catastrophic flash floods on August 26. According to the country’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the bodies of 579 people swept away in the floods had been recovered, while 1,924 people remained out of contact as of Friday evening.
Mishra, known for songs including “Kaise Hua”, “Pehle Bhi Main” and “Sau Gram Zindagi”, began his television journey with a reality show aired on DD National. He later auditioned for Indian Idol but was disqualified.
