MIG 21 Retire Indian Air Force: The Indian Air Force’s famous and powerful fighter aircraft MiG-21 (MIG21) is retiring on today i.e. 26 September. The aircraft was last bid farewell at the ceremony held in Digarh.
MIG 21 Retire Indian Air Force: Indian Air Force MiG-21 aircraft said goodbye to its service on Friday. This fighter jet was bid farewell to a ceremony held at Chandigarh Airbase. From now on, the services of this aircraft are officially over. In this farewell ceremony, Air Force Chief AP Singh took the last flight of MiG-21 with 6 jets of 23 squadron. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, heads of the three armies and several officials of the Ministry of Defense attended the retirement ceremony of MIG-21.
Indian Air Force first supersonic fighter aircraft
MiG-21 was the first supersonic fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force and gave a tough fight to Pakistan in the 1965, 1971 and 1999 wars. The aircraft also defeated Pakistan’s F-16-like jet. The speed of MiG-21 was faster than the speed of sound. The chapter of MiG-21 in the Indian Air Force will end in the flyast and farewell ceremony held in Chandigarh on 26 September. The aircraft was included in the Indian Air Force fleet 62 years ago.

MIG-21 is a deep connection with India
MIG-21 has a deep and historical relationship with India. From the 1965 and 1971 wars to the Kargil War and the 2019 Balakot AIRRIC, the aircraft played a key role for the Indian Air Force. India bought and operated about 1200 MIG-21 aircraft in total. However, due to repeated accidents and technical limitations of the aircraft in the last few years, it was also called flying coffin.
