Efforts are on to save 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel of Uttarakhand. Drilling has started again as part of the rescue operation. Officials said that through drilling the pipe has reached 32 meters deep. To prepare a way for the 41 laborers trapped inside for 11 days, drilling was started late at night with an American auger machine. Earlier, the drilling work was stopped due to the machine hitting a hard object during drilling. Road Transport and Highways Secretary Anurag Jain said that if everything goes well, the workers will come out in two days.
Drilling from Barkot side also
There are 4 ambulances present at the spot. Ambulances have been called from different districts. The district hospital of Uttarkashi has been kept on standby. Major Naman said that the Border Road Organization has constructed an access road for vertical drilling. A track of 1150 meters has been built. The machines have gone up.
A 5 kilometer track is being built from Barkot side for vertical drilling. Rescue workers also detonated two explosions at the fence-end of the tunnel, beginning the process of drilling another tunnel to rescue the workers.
Paneer-pulao sent for dinner
Pulao, peas-cheese and bread with butter were sent through pipes to the workers trapped in the tunnel at night. This food was prepared under the supervision of a doctor. This information has been given by cook Sanjeet Rana. He told that this food was prepared with less oil and spices. A total of 150 packets of food were sent to the workers. Fruits were sent to him during the day.
Earlier, endoscopic flexi cameras were sent to the workers through a six-inch pipeline. With the help of this camera, information about the condition of the workers was obtained. His videos came out, in which he appeared safe. In the video, workers were seen talking to each other.
On November 12, a portion of the 4 kilometer long under-construction Silkyara Tunnel collapsed, trapping workers on the other side of the debris.
