Amidst the debate and discussion regarding Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the country, a big political and administrative signal has come out from Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that the government is working rapidly towards implementing UCC in the state before the monsoon session of July 2026.

The Chief Minister, who participated in the program ‘India@2047 Conclave’ organized by a private news channel in New Delhi, said that the state government is seriously moving forward on this issue and a high-level committee has also been constituted for this.

Preparation to implement UCC in final stage

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that a high-level committee has been formed under the chairmanship of retired Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Desai to implement the Uniform Civil Code. This committee is visiting different districts of the state and taking suggestions and opinions from different sections of the society. The government’s objective is to create a model that is in line with broad public sentiments and constitutional values. He said that three states in the country have already implemented UCC and Madhya Pradesh is also moving in the same direction.

Tribal communities will get exemption

The Chief Minister clarified that the tribal communities of the state will be kept out of the purview of UCC. He said that the tribal society will continue to have the freedom to live life according to their traditional customs and social systems. The government is moving forward with a sensitive approach on this subject. Dr. Yadav said that similar provisions are seen in other states including Gujarat.

Focus on the goal of developed India 2047

The Chief Minister said that the aim of his government is to include Madhya Pradesh among the leading states of the country. He said that to strengthen the role of Madhya Pradesh in the national vision of Developed India 2047, special attention is being given to education, employment, investment and infrastructure.

Government’s claim regarding investment and employment

During the program, the Chief Minister said that continuous efforts are being made to promote industrial development in the state. According to him, last year investment of about Rs 10 lakh crore came into the state, while MOUs worth about Rs 30 lakh crore were signed in the Global Investors Summit (GIS-2025). The Chief Minister claimed that about 30 percent of the investment from these agreements has started becoming visible on the ground and this has also created new employment opportunities. He said that due to the expansion of industrial activities in the state, more than two lakh jobs have been created so far.

Major changes in education sector

Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has made remarkable progress in the field of education in the last few years. He said that till the year 2002-03, there were only five medical colleges in the state, whereas now their number has increased to 30. Of these, seven medical colleges have been started in the last two years. Apart from this, new universities and PM Excellence Colleges have also been established in the state, which is giving a new direction to higher education.

Emphasis on promoting electric vehicles

The Chief Minister said that keeping in mind environmental protection and fuel saving, the state government is promoting electric vehicles. He said that the government itself is giving priority to the use of EV vehicles, so that the goal of reducing pollution and sustainable development can be furthered.

Emphasis on religion, culture and tourism also

The Chief Minister said that insulting any religion is not a part of Indian culture, but it is not wrong to be proud of one’s religion and heritage. Referring to the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, religious tourism and development of Bhojshala in Dhar, he said that such steps also give impetus to the local economy and employment.

Update also given on Ladli Brahmin Yojana

During the programme, the Chief Minister also mentioned the Ladli Brahmin Yojana. He said that so far, financial assistance worth more than Rs 55 thousand crore has been provided to the eligible women of the state through 36 installments.
