Kylian Mbappe finally showed what he is capable off as Real Madrid played their first game of the La Liga 2026/27 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He scored three goals to lead Real Madrid to a 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Thursday, August 26. His goals won the Jose Mourinho side the game. However, what the caught the eye was Mbappe giving a tribute to perhaps the greatest footballer to play for Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The special moment happened in the 80th minute. Kylian Mbappe received a great pass from Vinicius Junior and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper. Normally, the French star celebrates by folding his arms across his chest. Instead, he ran straight to the corner flag, spread his arms out wide, and flew like an aeroplane.
This was exactly how Cristiano Ronaldo used to celebrate some of his big goals for Real Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe Hat-Trick Wins Real Madrid The Game
The hat-trick was exactly what Real Madrid needed. The team had a tough start to the match. Kylian Mbappe scored the first goal in the 40th minute, but Real Sociedad’s Luka Sucic tied the game just four minutes later.
After halftime, Real Madrid came out playing much better. Mbappe worked perfectly with Jude Bellingham to score his second goal in the 60th minute. Shortly after, Vinicius Junior scored to make it 3-1, before Mbappe finished his hat-trick late in the game.
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho was full of praise for his star player.
“There is something I don’t like doing… I don’t like to talk about individuals, but what Kylian did… it was insane.This guy is incredible. I can see he is ready to make history with Real Madrid.”
With these three goals, is already the top scorer in La Liga this season, and will be a crucial part for Real Madrid as they aim to secure the coveted La Liga title this season.
