English actor Freddie Highmore is known for Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Arthur and the Invisibles, and more.

After these, he won hearts with his portrayal of Dr. Shaun Murphy in The Good Doctor. A year after bidding farewell to the much-loved show, he is now set to star in Amazon Prime Video’s crime drama The Assassin. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, he opened up about moving on and spoke about challenging himself to never repeat roles.

The actor said, “Yeah, I think that’s a good way of phrasing it. I always want to do something different generally and I feel you never want to just repeat the same things that you have done before, finding new roles, finding new challenges and sort of different tones to explore.”

Talking about his upcoming project, Freddie added, “I think what stood out for me about this was that the writing was so brilliant. Of course, there’s the kind of high stakes and the twists and the turns, but underneath the sort of thriller engine is just this very nuanced, interesting story between a mother and a son. And I think it’s also done with a great dose of dark humour, an understated sort of British humour. That was a part of of why I wanted to do this, along with, of course, getting to work with Keeley whom I admired for so long. And, it was a joy.
