Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 is continuing its strong run at the box office, and videos from the film’s success party have now put co-star Disha Patani in focus. The 34-year-old was seen dancing to Sheila Ki Jawani at the bash, with clips from the evening circulating online as the film crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide.
Made on a reported budget of Rs 45 crore, the film has already delivered more than 200 per cent profit and has remained steady after its first week. Alongside the box office story, the success party has drawn attention for Disha’s dance performance, which came as Awarapan 2 continued to draw audiences in theatres.
In clips that have surfaced from the success party, Disha is seen taking to the dance floor to Sheila Ki Jawani, the song picturised on actor Katrina Kaif in Tees Maar Khan (2010) and still counted among the actor’s most memorable dance numbers. People around her are seen watching and cheering as she dances to the track.
For the event, Disha wore a halter-neck dress with a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit. She paired it with matching earrings, minimal make-up and her hair tied in a bun.
Box office run
Awarapan 2 has emerged as one of the at the box office. The film clashed with Batwara 1947 ahead of the Independence Day weekend and opened with Rs 22 crore on Day 1. It then recorded a jump on Day 2, collecting Rs 33.75 crore.
By the end of its first week, the sequel had earned Rs 113.50 crore India net, while its worldwide gross stood at Rs 161.67 crore. The film carried that momentum into its second weekend and cleared the second Monday test.
It earned Rs 5.75 crore on Day 8, followed by Rs 8.25 crore on Day 9. The film collected Rs 8.75 crore on Day 10 before dipping to Rs 2.75 crore on Day 11. It then bounced back on its second Tuesday, collecting Rs 4 crore amid discounted ticket prices and taking its cumulative India net collection to Rs 143 crore, according to Sacnilk.
The film has now crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide, with total earnings of Rs 201.45 crore so far. Of this, Rs 170.15 crore has come from India gross, while overseas markets have contributed Rs 31.30 crore.
The film now faces a more competitive theatrical run. While Batwara 1947 has struggled to make an impact, Hanuman Ansh has emerged as a stronger contender in its third week. Awarapan 2 is also expected to , which could put pressure on its collections in the coming days. Directed by Geetu Mohan
