After having stones, the only solution is to remove the gall bladder. The cases of gall bladder stones are increasing rapidly in India. The main reason for the occurrence of stones in gall bladder is our wrong eating habits. What to eat to maintain gut health after gallbladder removal? This question remains in people’s minds. Actually, after removal of gall bladder, there is extra pressure on other organs of the stomach apart from the intestines. Dr. Piyush Ranjan, Vice Chairman of the Institute of Liver Gastroenterology at Sir Gangaram Hospital, says that there are two ways in which stones are formed in the gall bladder. One type is cholesterol and the other type is called pigments.

Youth in India are becoming more victims of this. Dr. Piyush told that the problem of stones occurring in young age is related to pigments. Now the question is, what things should we keep in mind to improve gut health after removal of gall bladder. Let us tell you….

How to maintain gut health without gall bladder

Dr. Ratnesh Jenau (Senior Consultant, General and Laparoscopic Surgery, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Jaipur) says that after removal of gall bladder, bile gets accumulated in the body and instead of coming out all at once, it continuously reaches the intestines in small quantities. In such a situation, some people may have gas, flatulence, indigestion, loose stomach or difficulty in digesting food. To maintain better gut health, it is important to pay special attention to diet.

Better Gut Health Tips

Eat food in pieces- Dr. Ratnesh says that instead of eating a lot of food at one go, patients should eat small amounts 4-5 times a day. If you overeat after gall bladder removal, your stomach may remain upset for several days. In many cases, swelling even occurs in the intestines.

Fried food will cause harm- Experts say that fried, highly spicy and high fat foods should be avoided because the body has to work harder to digest them.

Fiber is important- Fiber plays a big role in keeping gut health and other organs healthy. Including fiber rich foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and pulses in the diet improves the functioning of the intestines.

Benefits of probiotics- Fermented foods are considered a panacea for stomach. Curd, buttermilk and other probiotic foods strengthen the digestive system by promoting good bacteria.

Drink as much water as possible- Drinking adequate amount of water is also very important, because it keeps the digestion process smooth and prevents the problem of constipation.

Keep these things in mind- Regular exercise, adequate sleep and controlling stress are also beneficial for gut health. If symptoms like diarrhea, stomach pain, excessive gas or lack of nutrition persist for a long time, a doctor should be immediately consulted, so that proper treatment can be done in time.
