‘Chip to ship’ to be built in the country, PM Modi told the world, make in India plan

PM Modi inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2025 on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reiterated the government’s effort on domestic production while inaugurating the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2025 in Noida. Modi said that the government is making a lot of efforts under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. We want to manufacture in India from ‘chip to ship’. On the 11th anniversary of ‘Make in India’, he said that the government is developing a “Vibrant Defense Sector”, making an ecosystem where every component has a mark of ‘Made in India’.

He further said that Indian defense foresters want to become ‘indigenous’ and reduce dependence on other countries. We are making an ecosystem where ‘Made in India’ is written on every part of our weapons. He wreaked havoc that the government is also going to start production of AK-203 rifles established in Uttar Pradesh with the help of Russia. Modi announced that a defense corridor is also being set up in Uttar Pradesh.

55 percent mobiles are made in UP

As part of making the policy easier, the government has relieved many such rules under which cases were registered against people even after making small mistakes in business. Highlighting the contribution of Uttar Pradesh to the ‘Make in India’ mission, Modi said that 55 percent of all mobile phones in India are made in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh will strengthen India’s self -sufficiency in the semiconductor sector. Under its ‘Make in India’ mission, the government introduced a semiconductor mission of Rs 76,000 crore to increase self -reliance in the technical manufacturing sector. Recently, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav presented the first ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chip to Modi during the inauguration of Semicon India 2025.

The second largest country in the world

In the last 11 years, electronics production has increased from Rs 1.9 lakh crore to Rs 11.3 lakh crore, and India has now become the second largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. Under the mission to increase self -sufficiency in the defense sector, domestic production of defense equipment has increased from Rs 46,430 crore to 225 per cent to more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore. One of the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missiles, BrahMos, has been developed indigenously. On the path of becoming completely self -sufficient, 75 percent of BrahMos’ parts are now built in India.

PLI scheme created employment

In the auto component industry, there has been a boom in the last five years with the production being almost double. India has also registered a significant increase in vehicle production in FY 2024 along with the construction of more than 2.8 crore vehicles. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that the production-based incentive (PLI) scheme has generated large-scale investment and employment, while our vibrant startup ecosystem, inspired by the enthusiasm and energy of our youth and women, has made India the third largest innovation center in the world. India’s manufacturing sector is estimated to reach $ 1 trillion by the end of FY 2026, and the manufacturing PMI last month reached 59.3.
