The deal combines Nvidia’s AI computing stack with Lancium’s 4 GW of leased capacity and 15+ GW development pipeline.
- Nvidia has made a strategic investment in Lancium, a Blackstone portfolio company backed by Blackstone Energy Transition Partners and Blackstone Multi-Asset Investing.
- Lancium’s campuses will deploy Nvidia’s accelerated computing, networking and software technologies.
- The companies will use Nvidia DSX reference designs to target better performance per megawatt, time to first token and cost per token.
Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) is partnering with energy technology and infrastructure company Lancium to deploy its technology across Lancium’s expanding network of AI factory campuses. Nvidia has also made a strategic investment in Lancium, a Blackstone Inc. (BX) portfolio company backed by funds managed by Blackstone Energy Transition Partners and Blackstone Multi-Asset Investing.
NVDA shares ended Monday’s regular session nearly 2.9% lower. The stock edged another 0.04% lower in after-hours trading at the time of writing.
Lancium Campuses To Deploy Nvidia’s Full AI Stack
The agreement will put Lancium’s AI factory campuses to work as deployment sites for Nvidia’s full-stack AI factory platform, covering accelerated computing, networking and software. The portfolio currently includes 4 gigawatts of leased capacity, while Lancium has more than 15 gigawatts of powered land in its development pipeline.
The arrangement is also expected to give Nvidia customers and partners access to large-scale, power-ready capacity for demanding AI workloads.
More GPUs Within The Same Power Budget
Nvidia and Lancium will use Nvidia DSX reference designs to accelerate deployments while targeting improvements in performance per megawatt, time to first token, revenue potential and cost per token. Lancium plans to use DSX MaxLPS to enable up to 40% more GPUs within the same power budget, while DSX Flex will allow AI factory power consumption to adjust with the grid.
Michael McNamara, CEO and co-founder of Lancium, said the company has spent years building the power, land and infrastructure expertise required to deliver AI data center capacity at scale. He said the Nvidia partnership will allow Lancium’s campuses to use advanced technology while providing Nvidia customers with access to the capacity they need.
AI And Energy Infrastructure
Nico Caprez, vice president of global AI infrastructure growth at Nvidia, said the partnership will support a new generation of gigawatt-scale, power-ready AI factories, enabling cloud partners, AI natives and AI infrastructure developers to deploy Nvidia’s full computing stack faster and operate more efficiently.
Blackstone senior managing director Bilal Khan said the deal highlights Lancium’s position at the intersection of energy and AI infrastructure, which he described as two of Blackstone’s highest-conviction investment themes.
Lancium, headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, designs, develops and operates gigawatt-scale AI data center campuses.
