Salman Khan Reviews Batwara 1947; Karan Deol Reveals Superstar’s Reaction To Sunny Deol’s Performance

Salman Khan has reviewed Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, and Karan Deol has now revealed exactly what the superstar thought of the film. Despite its slow box office run, the period drama received praise from Salman, who shares a close bond with the Deol family. Karan revealed that Salman personally called the family after watching Batwara 1947 and expressed his appreciation for the film. More importantly, the superstar singled out Sunny Deol’s performance for praise. Karan also opened up about Salman’s longstanding support for their family, describing his affection as genuine and highlighting the special bond between the Bollywood superstar and the Deols.

While Batwara 1947 has had a slow run at the box office, Sunny Deol has received a personal vote of confidence from Salman Khan. Karan Deol revealed that Salman watched the film and subsequently called the Deol family to share his reaction.

Speaking to Filmygyan, Karan shared that Salman liked the film and was particularly impressed by Sunny Deol’s performance. The revelation comes as a reassuring moment for the actor, especially given Salman’s long-standing association with the Deol family.

Karan also opened up about Salman’s reaction to Batwara 1947. When asked whether the superstar had contacted the family after the film’s release, Karan confirmed that he had. He praised Salman’s longstanding bond with the Deol family, saying that “he loves the family so much” and is “just so supportive.” Calling Salman “an amazing person,” Karan added that “his love is very genuine.” Revealing Salman’s reaction to Batwara 1947, he confirmed, “Yes, he called us. He said he liked the film; he liked my father in it.”

Meanwhile, The in-house   stated that Batwara 1947 stands out among Partition dramas for its promising subject, strong ensemble and emotionally driven storytelling. Rather than relying heavily on grand, larger-than-life moments, the film finds strength in its characters and their emotional journeys. The review also highlighted Nagesh Kukunoor’s direction, Sunny Deol’s  , Shabana Azmi’s performance, Preity Zinta’s comeback and Aamir Khan’s production backing, calling the combination a compelling reason to give the film a watch this Independence Day weekend.

Batwara 1947 is a Partition-era historical drama following Sikander Mirza, a Muslim man who risks his family’s safety to protect an elderly Hindu woman, Mai, amid escalating communal tensions. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film explores humanity, compassion, faith and moral courage, also starring Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi and Karan Deol.
