Oscar-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald has revealed that he once discussed making a documentary on Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The filmmaker, known for exploring the lives of prominent personalities through his documentaries, said Khan continues to fascinate him because of his extraordinary popularity and star power. In an interview, Kevin Macdonald also spoke about an ambitious documentary on Oprah Winfrey that was ultimately shelved. He further opened up about another Indian personality he would be interested in documenting, saying he would “love to make a film about” Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In an interview with ETimes, revealed that he had spoken to Shah Rukh Khan a couple of years ago about making a documentary on the Bollywood superstar. According to the filmmaker, the two met and discussed the possibility, but the project did not materialise because the timing was not suitable.
