A pet dog in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has become the emotional focus following the deaths of 18-year-old Kunal Chandgude and his parents, Murlidhar and Sangita, in a tragic incident at Khavda Hill. Left behind at the family’s residence in the Devlai area, the dog has reportedly stopped eating and continues to stay around the house, moving through familiar spaces and sitting near the entrance as if waiting for its family to return.
Dog Left Behind After Family Tragedy
With all three members of the Chandgude family gone, their pet dog is now alone at the residence.
Neighbours said the dog was closely attached to the family, particularly Kunal, who reportedly took it for morning walks regularly. Since the tragedy, the animal has continued to remain around the house despite the sudden absence of its owners.
Residents have been keeping an eye on the dog as it adjusts to the loss of the people it was accustomed to seeing every day.
Pet Dog Reportedly Refuses To Eat
The dog’s condition has reportedly worried neighbours.
Residents tried to offer it food by passing it through a window, but the animal reportedly refused to eat throughout the day.
Neighbours said the dog has instead been wandering around the house and sniffing familiar spots, apparently searching for the people who once lived there.
The animal has also been seen returning to the doorway and sitting there for long periods.
‘Waiting’ At The Door
The most poignant sight for residents has been the dog sitting near the entrance of the now-empty house.
Neighbours believe the animal may be waiting for its owners to return, unaware of what has happened to them.
The sudden loss of the family has left the pet without the people who cared for it, while residents have been watching over the dog following the tragedy.

Family Dies At Khavda Hill
The deaths occurred on Friday at Khavda Hill, where Kunal had reportedly gone and threatened to harm himself.
His parents, along with local residents and police personnel, spent nearly three hours attempting to persuade him to move away from the edge.
During the final stages of the incident, Kunal’s father reportedly approached him in an effort to intervene. Both reportedly lost their balance and fell from the hill. Sangita subsequently fell while attempting to respond to the situation.
All three family members died in the incident.
A Pet Waiting For Its Owners
While the tragedy has left the Devlai neighbourhood grieving, the family’s dog has become a poignant reminder of the lives and routines that have suddenly disappeared.
Its refusal to eat, movement around the familiar home and repeated return to the doorway have deeply affected residents.
