BJP Threatens Constitution and Reservations, Alleges AAP
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Sunday accused the BJP of posing a threat to the Constitution and reservation benefits, alleging that the party had “intensified its campaign to end reservations.” In a post on X, Singh said attempts to end reservations must be thwarted and alleged that the Yogi Adityanath government had “snatched” the rights of backward classes in the recruitment of 69,000 teachers in the UP. “The BJP is the biggest threat to the Constitution and reservations. The BJP has once again intensified its campaign to end reservations. This attempt must be thwarted. In the recruitment of 69,000 teachers, the Yogi government has snatched the rights of the backward classes,” he said.
He asserted that the fight for the rights of backward classes would be taken up “from the streets to Parliament and the Supreme Court”. Singh also said he held detailed discussions with Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on issues concerning reservations and the rights of backward classes. The meeting comes against the backdrop of the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
AAP Alleges ‘Missing’ Schools in UP’s Jaunpur
Sanjay Singh further alleged that five schools in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur were “missing” despite being listed on the U-DISE platform and demanded that FIRs be registered against those responsible for their alleged disappearance. Singh named the five schools as Dhalgar Tola, Mishirpur Kanya, Gadan Arjini Primary School, Urdu Bazar and Baghasim, and claimed that all five continued to be shown as active on U-DISE.
“Five schools in Jaunpur have been stolen, and an FIR will be registered for the theft of those schools,” Singh said, while challenging BJP members to locate and show the schools. He said a reward of Rs 1 lakh would be given if BJP members could find them.
Singh Slams FIRs Against AAP Members for Exposing School Conditions
The AAP leader also alleged that FIRs had been registered against members of his party for highlighting the condition of government schools. Referring to his party’s Youth Wing president Pankaj Awana, Singh questioned the action against them, saying they had only highlighted the ground situation.
“You filed an FIR against our Youth Wing president; what wrong did Pankaj Awana do? He only showed the actual state of the schools. He merely showed the real condition of the school there. So FIRs must be filed against those who ruined the schools; how can you file FIRs against those exposing the ground reality of schools?” he told ANI. He demanded that cases be registered against those responsible for allegedly damaging government schools instead of those exposing their condition.
Calls for Improved School Infrastructure and Mid-Day Meals
Singh further said government schools were funded through public money and taxpayers’ money and called for corrective action to improve school infrastructure and the mid-day meal system. On school meals, he said cooks should not be blamed for the quality of food when the required cooking materials and ingredients were not supplied to them.
“Go and see the ground reality for yourself; in the videos showing mid-day meals in schools, what fault is it of the cooks? When you do not supply them with cooking materials and ingredients, how are they to blame? They can only prepare what you provide them, so fix the mid-day meal system and fix the schools,” he said.
‘Ousting BJP is Essential to Save Constitution’: Sanjay Singh
Singh also reiterated his allegation that the BJP was the “greatest threat” to the Constitution and reservation, claiming that reservation rights were being undermined. He said his party would continue to raise the issue and called for the BJP to be voted out.
“Yes, they are 100% stealing reservations; look at it, I repeatedly state that the Bharatiya Janata Party is the greatest threat to the Constitution and reservation, and as long as the BJP remains, neither reservation nor the Constitution will survive in this country, which is why ousting them is essential, just as we stated during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Look, elections are approaching, so they will certainly announce something or the other,” he said.
He further alleged that decisions related to sugarcane and ethanol production had contributed to a sugar crisis and rising inflation, citing reports on the issue. (ANI)
