COLOMBO: Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal yet again got into a scuffle with Sri Lankan pacer Asitha Fernando during the first session of the second Test against Sri Lanka.
The incident happened after Jaiswal was dismissed on Asitha’s last ball in the 17th over. Asitha dismissed Jaiswal when he was five runs short of a half-century. Jaiswal then approached Asitha and had a verbal altercation.
Jaiswal scored 45 runs, including three fours, in Asitha’s over. However, Asitha dismissed Jaiswal, smashing the middle stump on the last ball. The Sri Lankan players then started celebrating. While returning to the dressing room, Jaiswal looked irked by some comments made by Asitha, and he immediately tracked back and headed towards the Sri Lankan player in a bid to confront him. Asitha and Jaiswal even butted heads with each other. Later, the Sri Lankan players intervened and alleviated the tensions.
In the first Test, Niroshan Dickwella and Jaiswal had a falling out. While Dickwella was batting, Jaiswal, who was fielding nearby, challenged the player to hit a six. Dickwella asked if he would be allowed to play in the IPL if he hit a six. Jaiswal asked him to try his luck, but Dickwella got dismissed on the next ball.
